The Celtic Church In Great Britain

By the grace of God I wish to discuss the phenomenon of Celtic Christianity using a resource that many may find odd.

Leslie Hardinge’s “The Celtic Church in Britain” focuses on the theological motifs that occur within Celtic Christianity as they appear in both in the literature of the ancient Celtic church but also from the conflicts that emerge from Rome’s pompous attempts to subsume the Celts under their authority.

The book is interesting because it has no “axe to grind” in terms of defending or promoting a modern body seeking to establish its “Celtic credentials”. Its “axe to grind”, if anything, is the promotion of the author’s Seventh Day Sabbatarianism (he is a “Seventh Day Adventist”).

It is one look at the Celtic Christian inheritance of Christianity today.  There are others though that will be mentioned from time to time.
